On Saturday March 20, 2021, cultural actors are mobilizing to Toulouse and throughout France. It is in this context that the performance hall of the Kiwi at Ramonville-Saint-Agne, will reopen temporarily this Saturday.
Indeed, the ARTO association, which works in the field of street arts, opens this cultural place from 3 pm to 5.30 pm to “affirm its support for the actions carried out to preserve the rights of all jobs” in the culture sector.
ARTO tackles the “French exception” in terms of culture
“ARTO invites residents to go to the Kiwi on Saturday March 20 to show their support for the struggle for the survival of the culture and performing arts professions,” the association announced in a press release.
“Incomprehensible is the French” exception “vis-à-vis other European countries, such as Spain, Italy or England, whose cultural life has resumed for several weeks. Protocols have been validated by scientists to attend cultural establishments without risk. What is the government waiting for to set them up? “
A sold-out event
A call that was well received by the public, since the room will be full this Saturday, a first since the closure of cultural venues due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
For the occasion, several artistic interventions will be offered to the public:
- 3 p.m .: Mara de Patagonia / stories and songs from Argentina and Spain
- 15h45: Tikkelkel / jazz éthiopien
- 4:30 p.m .: Compagnie Singulière / Circassian cabaret
- 3 to 5:30 p.m .: “What if the world afterwards did not look like the world before” / Alternatiba / exhibition
ARTO assures us that the event will take place while respecting barrier gestures.
In Toulouse, the Théâtre de la Cité still occupied
At the same time, in Toulouse, the City theater is always invested by intermittents of the spectacle. The place has been occupied since Thursday, March 11, 2021. The occupants announce that they are ready to stay there for an “unlimited” period.
“As long as the unemployment insurance reform is not abrogated, and social rights are not renegotiated (for cultural actors, editor’s note), we will not free the theater, ”warns a spokesperson for the CGT in Toulouse news.
