HOUSTON – Belgian cheese makers and distributors are delighted to see their cheese shipped “out of this world” from Belgium to the International Space Station.

NASA astronaut Shannon Walker has been asked to send her cheese for her 210-day trip to the International Space Station.

They did it, she loved the cheese so much, she asked for a second boat!

Now the Belgian manufacturer and distributor of this cheese feels loved.

They say the cheese is made on a small dairy farm in West Flanders, and then they age the cheese to their liking.

They never thought their cheese would be made from Belgium via Houston and into space.

“Most of the time Belgians aren’t proud to be about their products, so it’s a very local story, now it’s international, so yes that’s great,” said Friedrich von Trich at Casafiniers von Tricht. “Offering everything is already great around the world, but space is something we never dreamed of. “

Get this: Cheese distributors say they’re now working on releasing a special edition of “Space Cheese” so you can try the same cheese that was sent to the space station.

But be patient. They say it can take up to two months for you to see it at the Houston Dairymaids store.
