The epidemiological situation no longer allows the government to lift restrictions on recreation or business, Health Minister Alain Berses said.
Instead, only one restriction will be relaxed – now it will be possible to gather ten people for outdoor private events, instead of five as before.
Meanwhile, restaurants and event organizers are demanding the lifting of restrictions so that they can start organizing activities.
In Friday, 1,750 new cases of coronavirus were registered in the last 24 hours, and the number of cases per 100,000 population exceeds 200 in the last 14 days.
A decision will now be taken in mid-April on whether to allow dining at outdoor restaurants and lift restrictions on cultural and sporting activities.
The government hopes to make progress on the vaccination campaign by then. By Friday, 4.6% of the Swiss population had received both doses of the vaccine.
