Most respondents think that D66 mainly owes the profit to Sigrid Kaag. “She has received a lot of podium in the media,” said one respondent. The large majority of the participants is not surprised that the left-wing parties have lost.
The voters are amazed at the VVD’s profit. The result of the liberals’ profit is that Mark Rutte will probably remain prime minister. Most would rather not see that happen. “It is incomprehensible that there are so many people behind Rutte and apparently it does not matter at all how many lies and promises he has not kept. And then we are not even talking about the benefits affair ”, it sounds.
According to a majority of the participants, the elections were not really exciting. “Really boring. Nothing really will change, unfortunately. The Netherlands will continue on the same footing. ”
VVD, D66 and the losing CDA can form a coalition, it is expected. Still, most think the formation will be difficult. They do not think that the CDA should now sit in the new government. A respondent who likes it all: “With Kaag as deputy prime minister, Rutte will get someone with vision. And then Wopke Hoekstra would like to get back to Finance. ” Another: “Hopefully there will be no left-wing party.”
The right-wing parties FvD, PVV and JA21 have made a considerable profit together, and will probably occupy 29 seats in the Chamber. The answer to the question whether this ‘right-wing block’ will make a difference shows a divided picture. One half thinks this will happen, the other half does not.
One respondent calls it ‘worrying’ that JA21, FvD and PVV have received so many votes. “The rise of the ‘right’ is mainly due to the corona crisis. When the corona has ebbed away, these parties will have less say. ” Another respondent: “The rise of these parties means that many people in our country do not feel heard.” Many are shocked by the great profit of FvD. One of them puts it into perspective: “They may have won, but not in such a way that they can leave a big mark on the political climate.”
Some make the comment that although PVV is on the right in terms of migration, it is on the left from an economic point of view. A note: “JA21 is not ultra right, but ‘just’ right. Only the FvD could be regarded as extreme. ”
With three seats, Volt is the most striking newcomer of the small parties. A majority is surprised about this. The respondents include a number of fans of the new pan-European party. “It could just be that they have to play a significant role if they are to help the coalition get a majority.” Another respondent is not at all happy with the arrival of new ‘splinter parties’. “All clubs of no value whatsoever, especially time and money wasted. Set an electoral threshold of five seats, because that fragmentation will not solve anything at all. ”
