A nurse in Georgia fell into a coma and died after being vaccinated with AstraZeneca. The day before, local media reported that the young woman became ill in the first minutes after the vaccination.
The National Centers for Disease Control said it was the first such case in the first three days of mass vaccination in Georgia. The nurse’s serious condition developed within half an hour after the injection. For now, it is thought to have been an anaphylactic shock.
“We still don’t know if it’s an allergic reaction or another type of reaction,” the health ministry said.
An investigation into the sad incident is currently under way. Georgian Deputy Health Minister Tamara Garbunia said yesterday that coronavirus vaccination would be stopped if necessary.
