Two millionth corona pepper placed in the Netherlands four weeks after the millionth | NOW

Four weeks after the millionth vaccination against COVID-19 in the Netherlands, the two millionth injection was also taken on Friday, outgoing Minister Hugo de Jonge (Public Health) tweeted Friday.

The minister calls the milestone “a result of the hard work of an awful lot of people”. In his tweet, he thanks the GGDs, RIVM, the National Network Acute Care (LNAZ) and the National General Practitioners Association (LHV). At the beginning of April, De Jonge expects the three millionth injection.

The corona dashboard reports that a total of 1,977,224 injections have been taken. This number includes both first and second doses. All vaccines used to date require two doses to be adequately protected against COVID-19.

More than 412,000 people have received two doses of a corona vaccine since the vaccination campaign began in January. Get averaged at the current pace every 1.3 seconds someone a shot, data from the corona dashboard shows.

The majority of the vaccinations (about 1.5 million) used vaccines from Pfizer and BioNTech. In more than 350,000 cases, people received the AstraZeneca vaccine and more than 100,000 doses were from Moderna.

Most injections (more than 1.3 million) were taken by the GGDs. The other doses were administered in long-term care institutions (more than 411,000), GP practices (some 154,000) and hospitals (more than 108,000).
