This duel in the second football league has it all: the top teams of the spring season will meet at the guest appearance of FC Blau-Wei Linz in Amstetten today (6.30 p.m.). Linz lead the spring table with twelve points from five games – the Mostviertler also celebrated four wins this year, but have the worse goal difference.
“It is no surprise that Amstetten is doing so well. They strengthened themselves really well again in winter,” says Blau-Wei-Linz coach Ronny Brunmayr, who has all the players on board except for Philipp Malicsek in Lower Austria Has. “Amstetten has a similar focus to ours. It will be about being a little better in all possible areas.”
It is also the duel of the best goalscorer in the second division: Blau-Wei-Strmer Fabian Schubert (19 goals this season) against Amstetten’s David Peham (13). The attacker quota is not only outstanding this season: Schubert has scored 43 goals and nine assists in his 50 competitive games for Linz since summer 2019 – he was directly involved in half of the 103 goals scored during this period. Peham is also a real life insurance company with 47 goals in 75 second division games. No wonder that the duo is repeatedly associated with Bundesliga clubs. Brunmayr: “Of course we would like to keep Fabian for the long term. But there is still no new stand. He will listen to everything.”
The FC Juniors O also competes abroad: The Wieland team is a guest at the second Liefering.
