State Parliament – Düsseldorf:Special session of the state parliament on the corona crisis

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – In view of the sharp rise in new corona infections, the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament will meet for a special session on Friday (2 p.m.). The meeting was requested by opposition groups from the SPD and the Greens. You accuse the CDU / FDP state government of slipping the corona crisis management. The special session will take place a few days before the next federal-state conference with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) on Monday.
A violent dispute has broken out between the CDU / FDP state government and some municipalities with particularly high corona incidences. More and more counties and cities want to go back to full distance teaching, the government sees this only as a last resort. The city of Duisburg is also planning to return the daycare centers to emergency care, which Family Minister Joachim Stamp (FDP) does not want to allow.
The SPD and the Greens are calling for the state to adhere to the decisions made by the federal and state governments in early March. Accordingly, an emergency brake should apply if the seven-day incidence of new corona infections is over 100 on three consecutive days.
The Corona Protection Ordinance for North Rhine-Westphalia also provides that regions with an incidence “sustainably and significantly” above a value of 100 should examine tightening of containment measures and coordinate with the ministry.
