Sustainable against antibiotic resistance

Das Antibiotic Stewardship

Antibiotics are among the most commonly used drugs in inpatient care. About every third patient is treated with it.

In the last few years there have been no new antibiotic developments worth mentioning on the part of the industry. The incidence of multi-resistant pathogens, ie germs that no longer react sensitively to the usual antibiotics, has increased. Therefore, the wise use of antibiotics is a quality feature of a hospital.

By founding an “Antibiotic Stewardship” team (ABS team), the St. Marien Hospital has accepted the challenge of optimizing processes related to the administration of antibiotics.
The ABS team has the task of strengthening a rational anti-infective therapy in the St. Marien Hospital. It is used by the management and works closely with the Medicines Commission and the House Hygiene Commission.

Our ABS team in the St. Marien Hospital:
  • Dr. Ulrike Hermanns, Clinic for Neurological and Interdisciplinary Early Rehabilitation
  • Dr. Stefan Langenfeld, Geriatrics Clinic
  • Dr. Luba Lendowski, Senior Hospital Hygienist
  • Beate Hübner, hygiene specialist
  • Liliya Nikolov, Hygienefachkraft
