Beatrice Rana and Antonio Pappano with Santa Cecilia

The young star of international pianism Beatrice Rana and Sir Antonio Pappano are the protagonists of the concert of the Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia that Rai Cultura offers on Thursday 18 March at 9.15 pm on Rai5. Recorded at the beginning of November 2020 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, in a Sala Santa Cecilia with no audience, the evening will see Robert Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor, with the Salentine pianist Beatrice Rana as soloist. Presented by the author in Leipzig in 1846, it is considered one of the most representative pieces of the composer’s complex musical personality and one of the most famous romantic concerts. Preceding Schumann, the driving energy of Symphony No. 35 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, known as “Haffner” from the name of the client, for which the composer first wrote a Serenade in the summer, reworked in the spring of the following year and performed in Vienna as a symphony. And again, the Kammersymphonie op. 9 in which Arnold Schönberg breaks the link with the past and begins the exploration of the dodecaphonic path that will become the hallmark of his art. TV directed by Alessandra De Santis.
