A six-month-old child was mistakenly inoculated with the Coronavac vaccine at the Family Health Center (Cesfam) in Tirúa, in the Bío Bío region.
This was communicated by the municipality of the commune, where they point out that this happened on the afternoon of this Wednesday, March 17.
According to the information from the municipality, the mother arrived with the minor, even at the aforementioned health center, to receive the corresponding vaccine on the calendar.
After the erroneous inoculation, the establishment nurse was notified, who reported what happened to the corresponding authorities, taking control and observation measures. ‘
The municipality indicated that the respective summary will be carried out, while for the moment the health authorities have not referred to the issue.
The statement adds that the head of service took the respective measures so that these types of events do not occur again.
“As a municipality and especially as a community health service, we are very concerned about the health of the child, who during the afternoon was kept under observation without presenting an unfavorable reaction. In addition, the respective apology to those affected is reiterated and together with the concern, the availability to attend to any medical requirement or that arises, with the aim of providing all the support that the family needs, ”the municipality’s statement concludes.
This is the second case of a six-month-old baby inoculated with Coronavac at a Family Health Center.
This Monday a summary was instructed in Cesfam de Villarrica, in the region of La Araucanía, for the erroneous vaccination of an infant.
Although it is a safe vaccine, it is still in its study stage for use in children under 16 years of age.
