It broke! Asus ROG Phone 5 undergoes endurance test

The name is ROG Phone 5, and it is the latest smartphone from Asus’ gaming division. Looking at the list of specifications, it is the most powerful mobile gaming terminal today. But as far as resistance is concerned it seems to fail where its predecessors shone.

If you closely follow the mobile industry, you know the stress tests of the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything, by Zach Nelson. The popular youtuber successfully tested the durability of all the previous ROG Phone’s, but in the new model the experience was anything but positive.

The rear window of the ROG Phone 5 was completely shattered

As you can see in the video below, around minute 7:17, the smartphone shows weaknesses on the side of the antenna. It bends with some ease, and it ended up affecting the internal vibration motor which was making a very strange noise described as a “hog cat”.

At the second attempt, the screen literally goes “to life”. As soon as the smartphone is turned upside down, who says goodbye is the rear glass cover that is completely shattered. Now in the side area of the USB-C output, another weakness is found.

At a time when smartphones are increasingly resistant, it is described by the youtuber as “shameful” that the ROG Phone 5 fails the test. Especially when it arrives in Portugal for a price that goes from 799 € to 1299 €.

The truth is that it is increasingly rare for a smartphone to fail this stress test. Could these weaknesses keep potential buyers of the ROG Phone 5 away? Time and your sales performance will answer that question.
