LOCAL TRANSPORT PLAN (II): Quotes from the council meeting.
The debate in the Breisach municipal council also led to a settlement with the S 1 (Breisgau S-Bahn) between Breisach, Endingen, Freiburg and Neustadt. Two years ago it was electrified, extended and equipped with new trains. Since then there have been repeated occasions for criticism.
Thomas Wisser, Kreis-Dezernent: “That is the greatest frustration that I have experienced professionally in the last 20 years.”
Stefan Schnebelt, City Councilor: “You cannot fight corona infections with oil sardine practices.” (What is meant is the rush on the trains between Breisach and Freiburg.)
Your Damage, Managing Director of the regional regional transport association in Freiburg: “We are well aware that the S-Bahn does not work as it should.”
Andreas Hoffmann, City Councilor: “Achieving the climate targets requires doubling public transport. That doesn’t mean halving it beforehand.”
Oliver Rein, Mayor: “It’s actually a joke that we have to discuss this at all.” (To improve local public transport and climate protection)
Thomas Vierlinger, Mayor in Gündlingen: “The plan is a slap in the face.”
Jürgen Langer, City Council: “The plan is a step backwards into the 1970s.”
Oliver Rein, Mayor: “It makes sense that there won’t be a half-hourly service from Grezhausen to Breisach.”
From the joint statement: “It is not yet possible to foresee when the S-Bahn will get out of the negative headlines and function reliably. At peak times we experience full trains that allow boarding, if at all, only in crowded conditions and with no prospect of a seat.”
