Glencore merges copper and zinc marketing, appoints new directors: source

The miner and raw materials trader Glencore are combining their copper and zinc marketing operations, which will be jointly led by Jyothish George and Nick Popovic, said a source with direct knowledge of the matter. George will focus on zinc and copper metals and Popovic on zinc and copper concentrates, the source said on condition of anonymity.

The ferro-alloys and nickel marketing departments will also be combined and led by Jason Kluk, co-director of the ferro-alloys division.

Ruan van Schalkwyk, who operates ferroalloys with Kluk, will replace Tor Peterson as head of coal marketing, while Earl Melamed will succeed Gary Nagle as coal industry leader.

The company announced in December that Nagle will take over as chief executive officer from Ivan Glasenberg, who will step down.

Peter Hill will take over the iron ore, which was previously managed by George.

Tor Peterson, Kenny Ives and Nico Paraskevas, who run the coal, nickel and copper marketing divisions, will be leaving Glencore in the coming months after transitioning to their successors, the source said.

Glencore declined to comment.
