Samsung has introduced a successor to the sales hit. It is cheaper than its predecessor

<!—->

Samsung Galaxy A series are one of the basic pillars of the brand’s offer. In our market and basically throughout Europe, they play the role of affordable models, covering the spectrum from relatively cheap smartphones to more expensive pieces of the middle and upper middle class. Last year, a model was a hit among them Galaxy A51, which has become the best – selling smartphone of the Korean brand.

According to Strategy Analytics, the share of this model in the smartphone market was 2.3% last year in the first half of the year, which is actually more than some well-known brands of all their smartphones will sell. The A51 model was also a hit in the Czech Republic and became the best-selling Samsung in our country. It was followed by the A20e and A41 models. This shows how important the A-Series is to Samsung: last year, Samsung sold a total of 1.2 million smartphones in this model-line in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Worldwide, the A-Series accounts for 70% of Korean brand sales in terms of number of units sold.

It is so logical that this year Samsung is building on the successful models of the A series with new models. The key one is the A52 type, the direct successor of last year’s sales hit. The changes are more of a cosmetic nature, after all, it is probably not necessary to change anything fundamentally on the proven recipe, so the novelty represents a kind of gradual progress.

A new hit

What you will safely recognize this year’s A-Series models is a slight shift in the design of the camera assembly. While last year’s types have it set in a glossy black glass frame, this year’s novelties go beyond the design in the body color of the entire phone, while the protrusion is part of the back molding, so there are no sharp edges. The Galaxy A52 and its siblings look very elegant at first glance. In addition, the bodies of the phones are finished in a matte finish and there will be four colors: white, black, purple and light blue.

Like its predecessor, the new Samsung Galaxy A52 has four lenses in the main camera assembly. The primary sensor has a new resolution of 64 megapixels (the predecessor had 48), there is also optical image stabilization, which is also an important innovation. However, the set is identical to its predecessor, the wide-angle camera is twelve megapixels and the other two sensors have a resolution of five megapixels: one is used to take macro shots, the other to collect data on the depth of field. The front camera in the shot remained at a resolution of 32 megapixels.

In addition to minor hardware changes, Samsung promises a number of advanced features for the camera from the top Galaxy S models: newly including full manual mode for video recording, top night mode with handheld or tripod detection, video in up to 4K resolution (30 FPS) or 30 different optimized shooting scenarios.

The display also moved. It is still a SuperAMOLED panel with an integrated fingerprint reader, but it now has a refresh rate of 90 Hz, which increases the smoothness of redrawing the content. The resolution remains at 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. The battery capacity increased to 4,500 mAh (A51 had 4,000 mAh), the charging speed increased to 25 W (predecessor 15 W) and a very tempting novelty is the resistance to water and dust corresponding to IP67 certification. This time, Samsung replaced its own Exynos processors with Snapdragons from Qualcomm, specifically the Galaxy A52 is powered by a Snapdragon 720G processor in combination with 6 or 8 GB of RAM. Samsung in the Czech Republic will offer both versions, the “basic” one for 8,999 crowns (that is 500 crowns less than how much the A51 started) and will have 128 GB of user memory, for 10 799 crowns customers will get a version with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB internal memory (microSD slot not missing).

5G brother and bigger model

In addition to these two variants, the Galaxy A52 model will also be sold in a variant with support for 5G networks. This version costs 10,999 crowns and the equipment (including memory capacity) is essentially identical to the “basic” A52 without 5G. There are only two changes and relatively minor ones: the first phenomenon of the processor, the A52 G5 is powered by a Snapdragon 750G. The second is for the display, the A52 5G has an even higher refresh rate, 120 Hz. Everything else, for example, including the dimensions 159.9 x 75.1 x 8.4 mm and the weight of 189 grams, remains the same as the regular A52.

Another new product introduced is the Samsung Galaxy A72. This time it is again a model without 5G support, it is basically an enlarged A52 with a few other minor changes in equipment. The display has grown to a diagonal of 6.7 inches, the refresh rate of 90 Hz remains. Also a camera with stabilization, but the depth of field sensor is replaced by an eight-megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens, which has a triple zoom.

In total, this model can handle up to 30 times the digital Space Zoom. The A72 battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh. Water resistance, Snapdragon 720G or fingerprint reader also remain in the display. The dimensions of the Galaxy A72 increased to 165 x 77.4 x 8.4 mm, the weight to 203 grams. Galaxy A72 is the most expensive of the novelties, Samsung is asking for 11,999 crowns for it. All new products will be available in four colors, only the more expensive A52 with more memory can only be purchased in black and blue.

These new models are starting to be sold in our country immediately after the introduction, right now. At the beginning of the sale, Samsung is attracting to an event where customers can get Galaxy Buds + headphones for their phone for free. The offer is valid for all three models, ie A52, A52 5G and A72 until 11.4. or while supplies last (indicating that Samsung may not be left with headphones if you procrastinate).

In addition to these, Samsung recently introduced even more affordable representatives of the Galaxy A series. Specifically, the A32 and A32 5G. The model with the support of fifth generation networks is already sold in our country for CZK 7,990, the A32 type could follow. The question is whether it will be cheaper, because both models are quite different in equipment: A32 5G actually has a poorer – for example, only HD display instead of Full HD, the main camera with 48 megapixels instead of 64 or a fingerprint reader on the side instead of in the display (it is namely 5G type TFT, while 4G version A32 has Super AMOLED).
