Gatillero shoots apartment in Jackson Heights building

Residents of a Jackson Heights building are frightened after a shooting at the housing complex last weekend.

“How scary, very dangerous. This area is very dangerous. Near here they also killed a woman last year because she looked out the window. This is not good,” explains a neighbor.

According to the authorities, the events occurred at around 3:50 am on Sunday, in the vicinity of 91st Street and 35th Avenue. The subject who is now wanted by the Police was caught by surveillance cameras.

The images captured the exact moment when the individual points up and fires two shots, one hit the facade of the building causing damage, the other pierced the window of an apartment on the third floor and lodged in the roof.

“Quite concerned, especially for the well-being of the family, of the neighbors, it is very difficult, it is very difficult to be calm,” commented a parent.

At the time of the shooting, three people were present in the apartment, a 20-year-old young man and two women, one 23 and one 25; although no one was injured.

The gunman wore black pants and a black jacket with red, he also covered his mouth with a white mask. Some neighbors say the area is now more dangerous than ever.

And according to other neighbors, the violence has escalated: “This was the quietest thing in the past. I have lived for 40 years here in the area, and no, not really, this has deteriorated a lot, considerably.”

If the man is caught, he could face a number of charges including, endangering the lives of others and illegal possession of a weapon.
