German retailer Metro announces the official launch of the Metro mobile application in Romania, a digital alternative to the traditional Metro card, which offers quick access to all product information, store-level stocks or digital invoices.
“The launch of the METRO application is in line with the direction of investments in digitalization, assumed by the company in recent years, and comes in addition to an easy and efficient shopping experience. (…) Basically, the METRO application is a digital service that offers customers the possibility to always have the METRO card at hand and to get information directly from their mobile phone “, says Adrian Ariciu, CEO of METRO Cash & Carry Romania
Romania was among the nine countries in Europe where the new application was launched. It can be used on both iOS and Android devices, and can be downloaded for free from the App Store and PlayStore.
In January, the German retailer launched in Romania the DISH platform, which offers digital solutions for entrepreneurs in the hospitality industry, its purpose being to ensure online visibility and increase business efficiency.
In Romania, Metro owns 30 cash & carry units and in parallel developed the LaDoiPaşi franchise store network, which is approaching 1,400 units.
The company operates in 34 countries and has over 100,000 employees worldwide. In the financial year 2018/19, METRO generated sales of 27.1 billion euros.
