New York City’s new Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Thursday that he would overturn a controversial police tactic that allegedly reduced crime but violated the human rights of many citizens. The practice known as “stop and frisk” allowed police officers to stop, check and scan anyone in New York in order to inspect them for drugs and gun possession.
