Elijah and Daniela printed over $ 8 million at the transportation university. The orders – from Shumen? (Overview)

“Secret Service” helped with the action.

l The counterfeits were exported to Ukraine and Western Europe

l The two Bulgarians took 10% per order

Two printers printed more than $ 8 million in counterfeit dollars in the yard of the Higher School of Transport before they were caught, and investigators are looking for a connection between them and a man from Shumen who took orders for fakes, 24 Chasa has learned.

Iliya Nenov, 48, and Daniela Angelova, 6, worked in a printing house that the university rents out. The two were close, often staying after hours. Their colleagues did not pay attention to the fact that the tandem was kept in the hall. Months ago, however, the CDCOC received information that they were printing counterfeit money. According to unofficial data, the signal is from “Secret Service”, which has an agent in our country.

Work on the case began immediately, and the Sofia police became involved. Thus, on Tuesday night, the printing house was stormed. The uniformed men came across already printed counterfeit 4 million dollars and 3.6 million euros. Photo plates for euro banknotes, excise labels, a car registration certificate, a magnetic thread for 50 euros and others were also seized, Sofia City Prosecutor Iliana Kirilova told a briefing on Tuesday.

The printing house also produced legal health books, various packages, advertising materials and other documents. Not every printer could work on such a machine, said the head of SDVR Georgi Hadjiev.

“The two are part of a more serious organization and have sent the fakes to Ukraine and Western Europe,” said Lyudomir Yanev, head of the CDCOC, but declined to give further details. Nenov and Angelova worked to order, leaving about 10% of the printed money. The fakes were of good quality, but investigators had seen more precise performances.

“Successful operation against the production of counterfeit banknotes – euros and dollars, was carried out by teams of the Ministry of Interior and the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office in the capital. Bulgarian law enforcement agencies continue to actively protect the financial interests of the EU and our US partners, “Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev wrote on Twitter.

“We have fully cooperated with the police. SDVR requires us to answer whether a certain person has an employment contract with us. I declare to you that there is no contract with such a person. The information we have is from the media. I have not received any official information about the printing of counterfeit banknotes in a printing house at the university, ”the rector of the university, Eng. Daniela Todorova, told 24 Chassa. She has signed a contract for the premises with the company for which the detainees work.

Nenov and Angelova have not been convicted and have no previous criminal record. Investigators are looking for a connection between them and Emil Iskrev from Shumen. He was an intermediary between those looking for counterfeit money and documents and those who made them. It is not clear yet whether the orders went through it, but the version is being checked, the Ministry of Interior told 24 Chasa.

They are also working on the hypothesis that the two are connected to another gang for counterfeit money. In January this year in Sunny Beach, a printing house for counterfeit euros and documents was smashed again. The gang had several “offices” – in Plovdiv and Shumen they printed the false documents, and in Sunny Beach – the money.

The counterfeits were mainly for the Bulgarian market, but some of them were also exported abroad. The money machines were found in the same room in a hotel in Sunny Beach, which was closed after the action in 2018. Alexander Krichtin, 64, and Ivan Todorov-Borcheto, the organizer of the scheme in Plovdiv, were then arrested. The gang was detained in 2018, again for a printing house for money.
