They opened a printing house for counterfeit money in a university in the middle of Sofia! During a search, they found printed euro and dollar bills for over BGN 13 million. The banknotes are not of very high quality, experts say. Two people were detained.
Police and prosecutors enter three addresses in Sofia. The action comes after a few months ago the services in our country received operational information about the next counterfeiters of money. During the searches, investigators came across a huge amount.
“$ 4 million and 3,600,000 euros were seized. This is one of the largest amounts found. Serious work, congratulations “, said the Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev at a meeting with the bodies of the Ministry of Interior and the SGP.

Work on the case began several months ago. During the past 24 hours, searches and seizures were carried out at three addresses, where 4 million dollars and 3 million and 600 thousand euros were found.
The activity was carried out on the territory of a higher education institution by a person who had an employment contract for a printer in the same institution.
“The printing press is sealed. Photo plates with images of euro banknotes, photo plates of excise labels, photo plates for a driving license and a sheet with an image of a security thread of 50 euros were seized, ”prosecutor Kirilova said at a briefing.

A 48-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman were detained for 72 hours. Both persons have no criminal record and have not been convicted. They are part of a more serious network of counterfeit money trafficking to Ukraine and Western Europe.
There are at least two printing houses on the territory of the Higher School of Transport in Sofia. They use rented premises and for the first time heard about the illegal activity of their colleagues. They were shocked by the police presence. At a briefing, the rector of the Higher School of Transport “Todor Kableshkov” in Sofia, Prof. Daniela Todorova, explained that this morning an inspection was carried out on the territory of the school. However, counterfeit money was found in a room that was rented to a separate company.
“We have fully cooperated with the police. SDVR requires us to answer whether a certain person has an employment contract with us. I declare to you that there is no contract with such a person. The information we have is from the media. I have not received any official information about printing counterfeit banknotes in a printing house at the university, ”she explained.
Prof. Todorova emphasized that she was not aware of the illegal activity in the printing house.

The printing house, located in the building of the Higher School of Transport, categorically denies the allegations of printing counterfeit money. And the university denies that their employee was involved in printing counterfeit banknotes. Investigators do not rule out more arrests.
