“Purple Seller” – a tribute of love and forgiveness permeated by Lidija Lasmane-Dorino / Article / LSM.lv

On the 95th anniversary of Lidija Lasmane-Doroņina, a unique gift is being made – a musical, dramatic, visually sophisticated and full of divine love and forgiveness – the concert performance “Purple Seller”. The author of the idea is Sigvards Kļava, the artistic director of the Latvian Radio Choir, who together with the director and video artist Roberts Rubins, pianist Reinis Zariņš, actress Gunas Zariņš and the authors of the lyrics Inga Ābeli bends her head in front of the heroic personality.

The conductor of the Latvian Radio Choir Sigvards Kļava admitted that “the most important thing is to say a huge thank you, the most important thing is to bow your head in front of this life feat, and the most important thing is to greet and send greetings to Lidija. Lydia is definitely one of those people who, through her life, has shown what heroism means, what the meaning of life means and what it means to be faithful, first and foremost to oneself and one’s ideals ”.

The concert performance will feature music by composers Maija Einfelde, Imants Zemzars, Pēteris Vasks and Artūrs Grīnups, as well as poetry by Irina Ratušinska, a prisoner of the dissident Lidija Lasmane prison. The Bible story will be told, explaining the meaning of purple and the word Lydia, musically and emotionally permeating the complex and tragic way of life in deportation and imprisonment, without surrendering ideals and values, preserving love and coming to forgiveness.

The drama of the concert performance is created by the writer Inga Ābele, revealing that music will play a major role. She is grateful to fate that she has been able to become a contemporary of Lydia Lasmane-Doronina and also a like-minded person.

“It is dedicated to Lydia’s 95th birthday, but it is also a kind of devotional service to those who suffered with Lidija and stayed there, because love never ends.”

said writer Inga Ābele.

The original video works from abstract, expressive purple paintings were created by director Roberts Rubīns together with his cousin, painter Kristīne Rubīna. Video artist Robert Rubin said: “Purple is a quote from the Bible about Lydia, the seller of purple. Purple is the royal color used in religion. ”

In Dzintari Concert Hall, the recording “Purple Sellers” is performed by the creative team of Latvian Television, and viewers will be able to watch it on Good Friday, April 2, at 16.45 LTV1.
