The municipal director of a municipality in Eastern Norway ended up in hospital after being subjected to violence in the middle of working hours, reports South-East Police District.
– The municipality reports the incident and follows up on the employee’s health, the assistant municipal director says in an SMS to Dagbladet.
– Discussion
There were several witnesses to the incident, which took place inside the town hall.
– According to the witnesses, a discussion arose, where the now apprehended got very upset and finally used violence against the victim, operations manager Erik Gunnerød informs Dagbladet.
The accused, a 40-year-old acquaintance of the police, was at the scene when the summoned patrol arrived, and was arrested on the spot.
– It was the plan to interrogate him immediately, but he wants to have a lawyer present, so it has not happened yet, Gunnerød states.
– Embossed
The municipal director – the municipality’s chief administrative officer, formerly called councilor – was taken to the local hospital by ambulance.
– He was upbeat, but marked. He was taken to the hospital for a check-up, the operations manager states.
The police do not know the background to the incident, and hope the interrogations of both parties will shed light on this.
