Florentine by birth and Roman by adoption, graduated in literature and sociology, Mezza had been a professional journalist since 1994 and had started years earlier as a collaborator on the cultural pages of various newspapers and periodicals. At Rai he had contributed to many programs, both on radio and on television, starting in the Culture editorial office and then moved to the economic one and then to the Chronicle: he had held a theater column for the Orione program on Radio3, edited inquiries for Tg3 passing from human rights to health, as a correspondent he had followed landings in Lampedusa and judicial news, such as the crime of Garlasco or that of Perugia. Funerals are set for Wednesday 17 March at 4 pm at the Church of Santa Maria in Trastevere in Rome.
