A year ago, a studio in the center of Bordeaux (Gironde) was a rare gem very difficult to find for tenants. Now, its owners have decided to switch to long-term rental. More and more owners of tourist rentals decided to change the formula. For many, the health crisis was a trigger. “To give you an idea, I entered three properties last week that have switched from Airbnb to furnished twelve-month rentals“, explains Nicolas Lanteri, real estate agent in Bordeaux.
AT Bordeaux, the percentage of meublés has doubled: it represents more than six out of ten dwellings today. All the owners have not let go of the rental on Airbnb. To continue to rent one of the rooms in his apartment, Benjamin Provost had to adapt to the pandemic. Faced with the drop in reservations, he chose to decrease 40% its rates. He still leaves himself a few months of reflection before abandoning the rental on Airbnb.
