Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) NASA released two audio recordings from the surface Mars, recently.
In the first audio clip, recorded using two Perseverance Mars rover microphones, a sound is heard wind. In their post on SoundCloud, NASA described the sound as “ hearing the sound of a seashell or hands cupping to the ears ”.
Quoting New Yorks Post, Tuesday (16/3/2021), NASA obtained audio from the instrument on February 19, 2021, about 18 hours after landing at Jezero Crater, Mars.
“The rover, which holds the microphone, is still stored on the Perseverance deck so the sound is muffled,” they said.
In the second clip, listeners can hear the laser’s impact on rocky targets in audio captured on March 2, 2021.
“The sound of 30 collisions is heard, some of which are slightly louder than others. The variation in the intensity of the electric shock sound will provide information about the physical structure of the target, such as the presence of a layer of weathering,” he wrote. NASA in the description.
