JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – Dirlantas Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo prohibits its members from escorting luxury cars and big motorbikes.
“This is the Dirlantas Polda Metro Jaya policy to prohibit my members from escorting motorbikes (big motorbikes), escorting luxury cars, and escorting cyclists,” Sambodo told reporters, Monday (15/3/2021).
The policy to prohibit members of the Polda Metro Jaya Police from escorting groups, luxury cars, big motorbikes, or cyclists applies to all activities.

Exclusion of escorts at certain events or competitions.
“Except for sports activities, there are sports events which are athletes, so we guard them,” he continued.
For Sambodo, escorting certain groups can invite social jealousy.
“Because the police escort it often creates jealousy in the community,” said Sambodo.

Previously, the Head of the Polda Metro Jaya Highway Patrol Unit, Kompol Akmal, said officers from the Transportation Agency (Dishub) were also not allowed to guard vehicles in general.
“(Dishub) may not (escort). In the escort, it is explained in Article 135 paragraph 1 of the Traffic Law Number 22 of 2009, vehicles that have the main rights as referred to in Article 134 must be escorted by officers of the Indonesian National Police,” said Akmal via message short, Saturday (13/3/2021).
