The Baby World is the most important children’s beauty pageant in the world. It emerges as one of the categories of the Mini World Organization (MWO), which are Baby, Mini and Pre Teen that preserves and raises a theme very similar to the popular Miss Universe or any international beauty pageant.
And in the 2020 edition, a Peruvian girl took first place. It is about Loraine Martinez Gonzalez, who is only 8 years old. She is from Lima and took the title thanks to two virtues that were evaluated throughout the competition: determination and, above all, discipline.
On the night of the final gala held at the Hard Rock Hotel in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, Loraine won, in addition to the Baby World crown, second place in the talent show tests with a typical jungle dance and first place in the allegorical costume test with the cantuta flower dress design, made by the renowned designer Beto Pinedo, the same as the Miss Peru candidates who go to Miss Universe.
Baby World brings together 40 countries from different parts of the world in competition and to participate, each girl has to represent a country (hers), be registered as a candidate for the contest, represent a category, and have a series of costumes that Candidate must wear as part of her competition trousseau.

ROAD TO GLORY
For Loraine Martinez Gonzalez to shine in Baby World, she had to triumph in the national contest ‘Chiquita Peru’. This contest opens its doors to all regions of our country. In February of last year, different girls from different Peruvian delegations participated and the best scores obtained the title of queen.
The tests they presented are the same as those of an international call: gala dress, talent, interview and catwalk. “We seek to position ourselves as the best children’s beauty contest,” says the president of ‘Chiquita Peru’, Richard De La Cruz Vigil. “All the girls in our country have the opportunity to show their culture, their talent. In addition, they can develop positive attitudes such as self-esteem, stage performance and, above all, be an ambassador for our country doing social work without neglecting their studies and of course with the support of their parents. It is essential that our little queens occupy the first positions at the school level ”.
If a girl like Loraine wants to follow in her footsteps, she should only be willing to participate and show the responsibility of being able to represent her region. “’Chiquita Peru’ seeks to make people aware. Thanks to the contest one can see the reality of each participant. In many cases there is the support of the family, but when we visit areas that need a lot of help, the girls become aware of the needs. In this way they generate support campaigns, value more the effort of their parents and share with others how much or little they have, developing their personal growth with real actions that the world needs ”, adds De La Cruz Vigil.
