“The European Union has made many mistakes about vaccines. Bulgaria needs to think about what we would be in this highly competitive market if the EU were not behind us. This is the chessboard, there are no whites and blacks. The general strategy that the common position will be taken by the European institutions works for small players like Bulgaria. ” This was said to BNR by Prof. Anna Krasteva, a lecturer at NBU.
She pointed out that the coronavirus crisis is the third major one the EU is experiencing – after the debt crisis and after the refugee crisis:
“The question has always been whether to implement a national or a community strategy. We should not rush into easy criticism. Each of the crises constructs the fronts in the EU in a different way … The big contradiction is that the EU is the largest producer of vaccines in the world. This is a global strategic advantage. Today, vaccines are the new geopolitical weapon. There are countries that show us the peaks of their vaccination pluralism. “
In the program “Something more” Prof. Krasteva added:
“The unity in the EU is cracking whether the answers should be national or European … Vaccination pluralism has many faces. The vaccination war will be won. The flexible but coordinated strategies of the parties have a better chance. Collective strategies are stronger. “
