CHICAGO, Illinois – With spring just around the corner, Chicagoans prepare to shovel several inches of snow.

A bad weather system promises to bring winter mix to the zone.

The maximum temperatures are predicted to reach 36 degrees.

The winter mix will start in the southwest and move to the northeast of the area at noon.

Northeast Illinois residents could be accumulating 1 to 3 inches of snow this afternoon.

This Monday will be the coldest day of the week.

Tuesday promises to hit the mid 40’s.

On the weekend you will notice a significant rise in temperatures.

The beginning of spring will be Saturday, March 20.
