The figure of Anton Medan in Ahok’s eyes: Courageous and loyal friends

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Mubalig Ramdhan Effendi or known by the name Anton Medan died on Monday (15/3/2021).

In response to this news, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok said, when he was alive, Anton was a brave and loyal friend.

“He’s good to me. Brave and loyal friend,” Ahok said in a short message to Kompas.com, Monday (15/3/2021).

Ahok also shared the memorable moments he had with the deceased. Anton once gave advice to the former governor of DKI Jakarta.

“He once called me to advise me on my attitude which he thought was wrong,” said Ahok.

Ahok also met Anton on Sunday (7/3/2022). He admitted to seeing Anton after hearing the news of Anton’s illness.

“I heard he was sick and according to his brother he often mentioned my name,” he said.

Anton Medan reportedly died at his residence in Cibinong, Bogor, West Java, on Monday afternoon.

The death of a religious leader of Chinese descent was confirmed by the Chairman of the Chinese Islamic Association (PITI) Ipong Hembiring Putra, Monday (15/3/2021).

According to Ipong, Anton died after battling his illness.

“Yes, that’s right, because of stroke and diabetes,” said Ipong when contacted Kompas.com.
