Star Wars fans build a life-size replica of the spaceship from “The Mandalorian”

Followers of the Star Wars series “The Mandalorian” now have the opportunity to visit a life-size copy of the spaceship without having to travel to distant galaxies. A visit to the eastern Russian city of Yakutsk is enough. There, fans of the space saga have recreated the vehicle in the original scale and set it up in a public park. The “Razor Crest”, with which the bounty hunter Din Djarin cruises through the galaxy in the series, is now on a snow-covered hill, where it can be viewed by other fans.

Fold-out ramp and seat for Baby Yoda

“The ship weighs more than a ton,” said 28-year-old Ajaal Fyodorov, who took three months to build the 14-meter-long and four-meter-high model together with friends. The fans tried to copy the fictional spaceship as faithfully as possible using fiberglass-reinforced plastic, metal and plastic. The replica »Razor Crest« has a fold-out ramp and a seat for Baby Yoda, just like its model. Headlights and moving parts are to be operated with batteries in the future.

According to Fyodorov, the trigger for the project was the “shock” that the spaceship was destroyed in the second season of the series: “We were totally motivated to build it. As if we were in the series and would rebuild the ship. «In total, the construction cost more than 750,000 rubles (8500 euros) in his words. The 28-year-old apparently used up his savings, sold a car and asked donors and companies for help.

In the end, it took 30 people and four days at minus 30 degrees to tow the spaceship out of the hangar in which it was built, said Fyodorov. Nothing is known about possible financial support from Disney – the series is broadcast via the in-house streaming service.
