The Red Bull driver Sergio Perez set the best time in the morning session of the third and final day of testing Formula 1, in Bahrain, on the Sakhir circuit. The Mexican of the Red Bull with a time of 1’30 ”187 he preceded Charles Leclerc: the Ferrari gave good indications, and the Monegasque performed a race simulation, finishing three tenths from the former Racing Point on the flying lap.
The Principality driver had good signals from the new power unit, also witnessed by the good performance of Alfa Romeo’s Kimi Raikkonen powered by the Maranello engine. “I’m sure he has made progress, he has improved – said the Finnish in about the engine -. Taking into account last year, he made some steps forward and it will be very useful, even if we will have to wait until the race to see how he will behave ”.
In third place the McLaren of Lando Norris, hence the Alpha Tauri of Pierre Gasly and the Alpine of Esteban Ocon. In sixth place Mick Schmacher with the Haas, in front of Valtteri Bottas’ Mercedes, the only Black Arrow to turn in the morning: the Finn was over two seconds late from Leclerc, but the world champion team, like many others, focused on reliability by making their drivers run many laps. About eighty those traveled by Bottas, about 70 by Leclerc.
