The Badische Zeitung will host a live broadcast on April 30th with online tasting, music, a cooking show and a wine box. After Kaiserstuhl and Breisgau, this time it’s about the Markgrflerland.
Now it’s the turn of the Markgrflerland: After the successful online wine barrel bar at the Kaiserstuhl and the online Weinkult-Breisgau, the Badische Zeitung is organizing the first online Markgrfler wine enjoyment. The program will be broadcast live from the Villa Urbana in Heitersheim on Friday, April 30th, starting at 6 p.m. In the run-up, a wine box with twelve good wines from twelve companies will be offered again at a special price of 99 euros.
If you want, you can order the wine box directly from the Badische Zeitung, have it sent to your home and take part in the wine tasting – for example with friends. In addition, the first online Markgrfler wine is enjoyed and music is made.
How many wine packages are there for the Markgrflerland?
For several years now, the Badische Zeitung has been organizing wine events in the Kaiserstuhl and in Breisgau, which have met with a great response. In its anniversary year – the BZ is 75 years old – it is now the turn of the Markgrflerland for the first time. Due to the corona pandemic, however, a wine party with many guests is not possible, only an online live broadcast. The online wine barrel bar at the Kaiserstuhl and the online Weinkult-Breisgau have shown that this format can also offer a lot of fun and entertainment. The programs were followed by tens of thousands of viewers and the wine boxes were very popular – at the Kaiserstuhl and in Breisgau, the offer with 850 and 1200 wine packages, respectively, was sold out in a good two weeks. For the Markgrflerland the quota has been increased to 1500 wine boxes. With the first online Markgrfler wine enjoyment, it will be possible to taste two sparkling wines, six white wines, one ros and three red wines from well-known wineries and winegrowers’ cooperatives at home in the living room or outside in the open, without violating the Corona rules, as you yourself can toast at home without any problems even at a distance of two meters
Which wines can be tasted?
Over 35 companies from the Markgrflerland wanted to be part of the first online Markgrfler wine enjoyment. But since only twelve can take part, a lot was drawn. The wineries Walz and Zhringer from Heitersheim, Fritz Wamer from Schlatt, Schweigler from Binzen, Lmmlin-Schindler from Mauchen, Engler from Mllheim, Schneider from Weil as well as the Schlossgut Ehaben, the Markgrfler winemakers from Efringen-Kirchen, the wine cellar Auggener Schf are there , the Pfaffenweiler Weinhaus and the Hgelheim Wine and Farm Cooperative. Each company could propose four wines or sparkling wines in advance. They were tasted jointly by Thomas Walz (Weingut Walz), Stefan Schweigler (Weingut Schweigler) and BZ wine expert Gerold Zink. The result is a wine box with twelve drops, which can be seen and which reflect the different types of stone and development styles of the Markgrflerland. The spectrum ranges from sparkling wines to the Gutedel typical of the Markgrflerland to rich gray, white and Sptburgunders.

Who will discuss the wines on the live broadcast?
Who better to introduce sparkling wines and wines than the winemakers and cellar masters who have lovingly made them? That is why representatives from all twelve companies will be on site for the live broadcast in the Villa Urbana on April 30th and present the wines and sparkling wines in conversation with presenter Gerold Zink and other wine experts. In addition, videos are shown about the wineries and winegrowers’ cooperatives. Finally, the well-known star chef Jochen Helfesrieder from “Storchen” in Schmidhofen will prepare a three-course menu during the show. Singer and songwriter Sascha Happle takes care of the music.
What’s in the wine box and where can it be ordered?
The wine box contains twelve good Markgrfler drops from twelve different companies, including detailed wine descriptions. There are also recipes for the dishes that are cooked during the program, plus a shopping list for the ingredients that are needed for them. If you want, you can cook the dishes at home that evening. The all-round carefree package for the first online Markgrfler wine enjoyment is sent to the customer a few days before the shipment after purchase. The wine box can be purchased within Germany at a preferential price of 99 euros. Swiss customers can pick up the parcel from the Schweigler winery in Binzen from April 23rd. Where can the live broadcast be seen?
The live broadcast on Friday, April 30th, 6 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., will be broadcast on the BZ website and the BZ YouTube channel. After the broadcast, the video remains online – to look it up, try it out and celebrate again and again.
