NEW YORK | A New York City Police Department officer was arrested on Friday after trying to have her ex and her current boyfriend’s daughter killed by a hitman.
The case began last February when policewoman Valerie Cincinelli asked her boyfriend for help in carrying out her plan and handed him US $ 7,000 for her ex, one named Isaiah Carvalho Jr., and the teenager. age 15, considered to be bulky, disappear from circulation. She reportedly agreed to add US $ 3,000 when her boyfriend told her the killer was asking for more money.
The motivation of the 34-year-old woman, mother of two, to kill the man with whom she is in the process of divorce, was not specified on Friday by prosecutors. The couple broke up about two years ago and Mr Carvalho filed for divorce last year. They had an appointment in court next month.
According to New York Post, Cincinelli could be arrested thanks to the collaboration of her boyfriend whom she believed to be her accomplice. The latter, from the moment his own daughter became a target in this case, contacted the FBI and continued to work with them for months. In particular, he allowed the FBI to record his telephone conversations with the policewoman and his in-person conversations with her by carrying a concealed microphone on him.
The liquidation of the two targeted people was postponed several times, then, Friday morning, a trap was set for Cincinelli. According to documents submitted to the court and consulted by the New York Post, a faked photo showing her ex dead in his car was shown to her by a police officer who came to her home to tell her the sad news.
Cincinelli pretended to cry, according to a source familiar with the matter. After the officer left, she discussed with her boyfriend, who was there, what her alibi could be in the event that she was questioned by the police about her ex’s death.
The woman was eventually arrested soon after and charged. She faces 10 years in prison if found guilty.
Judge Anne Shield has rejected a bail application for Cincinelli.
“Evidence of guilt […] of the attempted murder of these two individuals are very strong, ”said the judge, refusing the release of the accused.
