Mayor criticizes cancellation of quarantine on travelers to NYC

Mayor de Blasio criticizes the state government’s decision to end the quarantine rule starting next month for those entering New York on domestic flights, calling it a joke worthy of April Fools’ Day.

This Friday the Mayor indicated that the instruction is reckless and that it does not help with the recovery of the city. He clarified that, at least, those people who are not yet vaccinated should follow the guidelines that have been implemented so far. He added that the testing process and quarantine is what keeps New Yorkers safe.

And is that Governor Cuomo announced Thursday that the quarantine mandate will be lifted on April 1.

However, state health officials still recommend quarantine after traveling within the country as a precautionary measure. Isolation is still required for travelers on international flights. All travelers must continue to fill out a form and follow state and federal safety guidelines.

The Mayor warned that nullifying the order is dangerous, especially when the city is making progress in the fight against the virus and in the face of constant concern about new variants.
