Even with the learning difficulties caused by the pandemic, data shows that students who attend pre-kindergarten in Dallas ISD perform at a higher level than those who did not attend pre-kindergarten in the district.
The covid-19 pandemic has affected learning in general this school year. However, the data shows that kindergarten students who attended pre-K are currently achieving higher scores on reading and vocabulary tests than students who did not attend pre-K. District officials informed the School Board of pre-kindergarten benefits during the March 11 meeting.
“When students attend our pre-kindergarten program, they are better prepared for future success,” said Elena Hill, assistant superintendent for early learning. “It is encouraging to see the benefits that our pre-kindergarten program is producing for our youngest students.”
The pre-kindergarten registration period in Dallas ISD begins in early April.
