However, we also know what can prevent this failure. The COVID-19 vaccine can fail if they do not have certain abilities.
Throughout history, humans have been fortunate: most human vaccines have not failed as a result of the evolution of micro-organisms.
For example, the smallpox virus was able to be eradicated because it could not evolve against the smallpox vaccine, and no measles virus strain has been able to defeat the immune capacity generated by the measles vaccine.
But there is one exception. A bacteria that causes pneumonia successfully evolves and becomes resistant to a vaccine. Developing and replacing such vaccines is costly and time consuming. It took seven years from the emergence of a resistant strain to the publication of a new vaccine.
