The British newspaper The Sun writes that the man had completed a six-hour shift at the US embassy about 90 minutes before Everard was last seen three miles away.

The officer was taken to hospital on Thursday with a head injury he sustained while in jail. After being treated, he was returned to the police station.

Three days before Everard disappeared, the London police would have been charged against Couzens for exhibitionism. He is said to have shown his genitals to a woman in front of a fast food restaurant. Despite the complaint, the man continued to work. The police are now investigating the complaint and checking whether his colleagues have acted correctly. The incident is said to have been filmed by surveillance cameras and was also reported by meal deliverers.

Police would also investigate camera images taken by a bus camera that drove along Everard’s route on the night the woman disappeared. A car linked to the suspect has also been spotted by a dashcam. Police say it is unlikely that Everard and Couzens knew each other before the woman was murdered.
