At home, too, practically nothing works without water. Bad Knigshofen gained notoriety as “the driest place in Germany”. But only for a short time. Climate change is forcing a system change. For example in forestry. But too much water also creates problems.
The readers of the local newspaper were recently able to marvel at a disturbing photo: a rivulet shot from the semi-automatic outlet of the Kurt-Back-Damm near Burglauer. After three drought years, the nine-meter-high million dollar project was finally able to prove that all the subsidies weren’t thrown out of the window after all. Experts said that without the dam an entire cellar would have flooded, causing double-digit damage.
Meanwhile, our beautiful industrial town is plagued by completely different water concerns. As is well known, the Rhn-Klinikum AG generously left the mineral springs to the city because you can no longer earn any money with them. Now the Neuschter have to spend huge sums to keep the title “Bad”. Privatize profits – socialize losses. Our “bathroom” is roughly the same as with the “doctor” of the former Federal Minister Karl-Theodor von und zu Guttenberg (CSU): nothing behind it.
Years ago, the well-known retired spa director Bernhard Mosandl told the press: “The spa is dead.” Nothing has changed about that. A colorful concrete block has meanwhile disfigured the spa gardens. The so-called “spa area” is degenerating into a permanent construction site. And most of the people from Bad Neustadt have never tasted the bitter broth that Justus von Liebig claimed had “excellent effects”. Sure, viruses and penicillin were still unknown at the time. For this reason, “shortened” people, who were called “quack bugs” by the indigenous peoples, had a boom.

How could one polish up the image of our “healing springs”? Through PR! First of all, the information boards in Neuhaus would have to be replaced. “But those who are already swimming in fat, take refuge in Hermann” can be read about the Hermann source. “Cool” sounds different. How about a rap version: “If you get fat like a pig, pull in a Hermann!”
Why not take up topics that are also of interest to people in an aging district? “Sex in old age” for example. “When the needle stops scratching, drink Bonifaz before dating!” How old-fashioned, on the other hand, the original version: “But if you have to split bacon, drink Bonifazius”.
You have to believe in medicinal water. Miracles happen in Lourdes and the Ganges! The effectiveness of the placebo effect has been proven. Especially with women. In homeopathy, “Potency D 24” means: one drop of active ingredient on the amount of water in the Atlantic. That’s no joke. Why are the few vaccination doses not stored in our vaccination center on the frozen healing water of the Elisabeth spring? The “subtle” penetrates glass ampoules! Why shouldn’t regional products and high-tech medicine “potentiate” each other?
A start-up company in Herschfeld markets organic flower fertilizers. This is local drinking water that is rich in valuable nitrates. Even better than the blasphemous suggestion of a city councilwoman to leave the healing springs to our troubled automotive suppliers for electroplating purposes or to dump them on ailing streets as a substitute for road salt. You have to imagine that.
