The Hospital del Rosell in Cartagena opens a point to do PCR from the patients’ car | Radio Cartagena

The University Hospital Complex of Cartagena is testing since this Wednesday, September 30, in the Rosell Hospital a system that will multiply PCR tests that are carried out in the Health Area of Cartagena, to determine if a person is infected or not by COVID, since they are made directly from the car.

The ‘Auto-Covid’ promotes maximum safety and minimal exposure for staff healthcare and for patients, since they will not have to get out of their car. Thus, if the patients have their own vehicle, they may be summoned to do the PCR at the Hospital del Rosell.

Otherwise, they will be able to go to the Covid point of the Santa Lucía Hospital, as before. This new point is located to the left of the main entrance of the Rosell, next to the old public cafeteria.

This initiative prevents anyone from entering the hospital pending a sample for PCR. To do this, it is necessary to make an appointment and for the patient to drive to the place where the sample is taken, where the health personnel, with the appropriate protective equipment, will obtain the sample without the need for the patient to leave their vehicle at any time.

“The patient must arrive in his own private vehicle to the exact point of sampling,” according to health sources.

Thus, measures and necessary changes have been established in the circulation of vehicles, allowing a directed and signposted entrance with a differentiated entry and exit point.

“The vehicle stop, which allows a simultaneous parking of 4 or 5 carsIt is carried out in a covered area, which allows to preserve both direct exposure to the sun and the rain “.

The hours will initially be from 08:00 to 15:00 hours from Monday to Sunday.

The health area of Cartagena performs an average of 1,000 tests daily, most through the Covid point of the Santa Lucía Hospital for admitted patients and those who have to undergo an intervention or have a test.
