First spy photos of the new Opel Astra 2022. The new generation of the brand’s compact has already been hunted, with a new image and camouflage. A production model that presents a new, more modern and futuristic image. The compact has just started its road tests, although it will be a novelty in Munich 2021.
The new Opel Astra 2022 just appeared in its first spy photos. The new generation of the compact of the German brand was waiting longer than expected, taking into account that it will be presented next autumn at the Munich Motor Show 2021, and that will go on sale in spring 2022.
Time was pressing, but after the presentation of the new French compact, the Opel has been seen. The new Astra debuts the development code “OV51”, and also debuts a new special camouflage that wraps the entire body in yellow. In fact, this model inherits much of the design, a more futuristic style that is reproduced in a few very thin headlights present daylight at the upper edge, although the grill features classic horizontal louvers instead of the modern “Vizor”.

The Astra presents a completely new silhouette, being longer and also lower, conferring a more sporty and settled posture since it is also wider, as well as a sporty image, with a back that also shows the new features. The pilots also follow the same distribution of functions as the new Mokka, in a wider and cleaner tailgate. Very balanced proportions.
The new Astra will feature a completely new interior, more technological, with a digital instrument cluster and the touchscreen of the infotainment system slightly focused on the driver. The compact will also offer more space in both the front and rear seats, one of the advantages of sharing the modern EMP2 platform with its PSA cousins, and that it will also have new driving assistants.
The new Opel Astra L will bet on a completely new range of engines focused on gasoline, with the engines 1.2-liter PureTech from 100 to 155 hp, and one Plug-in hybrid variant inherited from the French organ bank with a maximum output of 225 hp. All versions will be front-wheel drive, and associated with a 8-speed automatic transmission, except the first two that will also have a 6-speed manual gearbox.
