Turkey condemns parole granted to terrorist Hampig Sassounián in the US

The Turkish Minister of Justice, Abdulhamit Gul, reacted strongly to the parole granted to Hampig Sassounián, the assassin of the martyred consul general Kemal Arıkan in the USA.

In a letter sent to the attorney general, Wilkinson, Minister Gül pointed out that “the exoneration would send a rather erroneous message to those who consider terrorist acts as an instrument to carry out their purposes.”

The minister declared that “Sassounián and the ideology that manipulates him continue to exist in front of society, and they continue to be a close threat.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs It categorically condemned the Los Angeles Supreme Court ruling that has cleared the way for the release of the murderer of the Turkish Consul General.

“The Los Angeles County Supreme Court issued a resolution that has allowed the release of the Armenian terrorist Hampig Sassounián who massacred our Consul General Kemal Arıkan; California Governor Gavin Newsom stated that he would not appeal this ruling. We categorically condemn this approach that has deeply wounded the conscience of the Turkish people, ”he announced.

Foreign Ministry stressed that “this resolution, which has not been modified despite all the contrary attempts of the US administration, contravenes the principles of universal law and justice.”

Turkey declared that its 58 compatriots, including 31 diplomats, were martyred after suffering attacks by Armenian terrorist groups.

“The release of a politically motivated savage killer at a time when international solidarity is needed more than ever, and hate crimes are on the rise, undermines the spirit of cooperation in the fight against terrorism. This murder committed by the terrorist Sassounián with infamy and for whose responsibility he has shown no sign of remorse throughout his 38-year sentence, will never be forgotten as a crime that represents a perplexed and psychotic ideology. On this occasion, we remember with glory and respect the martyred diplomat and all the martyrs who perished as a result of the attacks by the Armenian terrorist gangs ”.

On January 28, 1982, the Turkish diplomat, Kemal Arikan, was martyred after being shot by the Armenian terrorists Hampig Sassounián and Grigor Saliba in the city of Los Angeles.

Sassounián was tried and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. It was anticipated that the fugitive Saliba had died during the civil war in Lebanon.
