There are three braziers in the chancel. The first contains stones. “They stand for the hardship in our life and can be painted,” says Pastor Kirsten Schumann. You can take an Easter sparkling card from the second bowl. This contains seeds. You can send them out or you can put them in the ground yourself so that flowers can grow. In the third bowl you can light candles for loved ones or when you have no words.
The preparation team with Kirsten Schumann, pastor Petra Isringhausen, cantor Annette Petrick, sexton Silke Lütgemeier, community educator Andrea Melzer and technician Philip Kleen want to bring the church to life. “We also notice that a lot of people are interested in coming to church,” says Annette Petrick. The open church also includes lighting in the chancel – that was already well received at Christmas – and music. From the tape, however: Annette Petrick is not yet allowed to play live. The first service could be the “message” on Easter vigil.
