The first shovel shots are expected in the coming days at Ifs, at the exit of Caen (Calvados), along the Falaise road, in front of the Guillaume-de-Normandie college and the Caen district of La Guérinière.
Five months of demolition work on the menu
The demolition of the first buildings must begin the week of March 15, 2021. These two buildings Unoccupied are the former premises of the Espace bar and the Tarte d’or bakery, at the corner of the rue de Falaise and the chemin au bœuf. Supported by the Caen la Mer urban community, this demolition work is to last three months.
–From April 2021, the Etablissement public foncier de Normandie (EPFN) will proceed with the demolition of three buildings, which he became owner for Caen la mer. There are first of all the former premises of the bakery Le Moulin des Pierre (which moved a little further) and a pavilion at the back, which had acts as a squat for a while.
150 housing units planned instead
Then is also concerned the commercial wasteland, near the rue de l’Aviation, where the Jeannette biscuit factory had taken up residence for a time, before its factory on rue Charlotte-Corday. Five months of demolition, including an asbestos removal phase, are planned.
–These demolitions are part of the urban renewal project of the North-East Plain of Ifs. Ultimately, between 2024 and 2026, these demolitions will lead to the creation of 150 accomodations at these locations, at the entrance to the town of Ifs.
