Students from the Ave Fenix School in Rancagua receive tablets to enhance their distance education – El Urbano Rural

  • SEREMI Mónica Toro highlighted that “we are living very complex times and being able to deliver this technology so that children can advance in their distance education process makes us very happy because we do not want anyone to be left behind. We appreciate the possibility that they give us to help them and we value the work that the Foundation does in favor of inclusion ”.

Thanks to the SENADIS Strengthening Line for Education Establishments for People with Disabilities, 70 children from Ave Fenix School in the Rancagua commune received a tablet that will help them in their distance education.

This was highlighted by the regional director of the National Disability Service, Kristian Jahn, who together with the SEREMI of Social Development and Family, Mónica Toro and the president of the Ave Fenix Foundation, Laura Cabello, led the ceremony for the delivery of this technology, which was held in the premises of the latter foundation, where parents and guardians of the beneficiary College also participated.

“The pandemic forced us all to adapt our programs, and that is why the Strengthening of Education Establishments line was able to finance two projects for special schools in the Region, one of them in Ave Fenix de Rancagua and the other in Watercolor Te Acoge of Nancagua, consisting of similar projects with the delivery of technology to bring children closer to a new modality of tele education. We know that it is not the best, that a face-to-face class is needed, but when it is not possible, we have to provide the tools so that children do not fall behind in their education, and so that parents and guardians have technological tools to support said process ”, said the regional director of SENADIS.

Along the same lines, SEREMI Mónica Toro highlighted that “as a Ministry of Social Family Development we have the great mission of helping families with more difficulties, and that their lives are made more difficult. We are living very complex times, and being able to deliver this technology so that children can advance in their distance education process makes us very happy because we do not want anyone to be left behind. We appreciate the possibility that they give us to help them and we value the work that the Foundation does in favor of inclusion ”.

Paola Toledo, Ema Vidal’s mother, thanked “all the support we have received from the Foundation, and SENADIS, since we had a very bad time with the internet last year, given that we did not handle much with technology, let alone with the zoom, but we managed to get by with our children. Now they have been good, calmer, but we need a little more to get ahead ”.

Similarly, Karina Manriquez, Damián Muñoz’s mother, said that “I am also very grateful for this delivery. We are a group of attorneys who went through a very complicated process last year, but we met and learned to know our strengths and weaknesses. We have a great challenge with the delivery of this technological tool, so thank you very much.

Finally, Laura Cabello explained that “this is a project that arises from the need to seek technologies to support children in their education process in the context of a pandemic. It is financed by SENADIS and the idea is to make a continuation from home, virtual, since it was a shortcoming that we had last year. We are very grateful because it will allow us to stay connected with children from kindergarten to sixth grade, most of them have autism spectrum disorder and a diagnosis of Down syndrome, which is a double barrier the issue of technology and overcoming the barriers of disability ”, he concluded.
