The Association of cancer patients and relatives -Apacfa- recalls that at this time they are still waiting for the 12 drugs through judicial protection that have not yet reached the National Cancer Institute (Incan). More than 25 people are waiting to continue their chemotherapy treatments.

Law No. 6266 of comprehensive care for people with cancer in its first article specifically states that “all people with cancer must access treatment in a continuous and continuous manner,” said Juana Moreno from Apacfa.
“The patients hope that the bidding process for a series of supplies and medicines, which are from the basic list, will be completed as soon as possible, so that we can have those medicines in the Incan Drug Bank. Among these drugs is fluorouracil and leucovorin, which are used by comrades who must undergo chemo every 15 days ”, he explained.
He added that “the cost in pharmacies, although not very high, has increased in recent days, causing many to be unable to access them. We also have the case of anastrozole, used orally for patients with breast cancer. Another remedy is bicalutamide, which is also not available at this time ”.
In a respectful way, Moreno explained that they urgently need these drugs to be in the Incan as soon as possible. “These drugs are not only for Incan, they are distributed to the San Pablo hospital, Itaugua National Hospital, Encarnacion Regional No. 7, Lazos del Sur Foundation and also for Ciudad del Este,” he specified.

He insisted that “law 6266 of 2018 on comprehensive care for people with cancer, guarantees everyone timely and quality access to dignified and comprehensive care for cancer. A cancer patient does not have enough time to wait, it is urgent that the medications be provided in a timely manner so that the treatment can be carried out.
