Number of corona patients in hospital decreases after two days of increases | Inland

560 of them are in intensive care, four more than the day before. There are now 1,353 corona patients on the nursing wards, a decrease of 54 in the past 24 hours.

On Monday and Tuesday, the number of corona patients admitted rose, by 54 and 58 respectively.

The LCPS has been taking into account an increase in the number of patients admitted for several weeks. “We expect the British variant of the coronavirus to take over and the number of patients in hospitals to rise in the coming period,” the coordination center said in an explanation.

Due to the crowds, eighteen corona patients, including seven IC patients, were transferred to hospitals in other parts of the country last 24 hours. That is a lot more compared to the relocations in recent weeks.

More infections

Between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, 5,330 new corona cases were registered. For a Wednesday, that is the highest number since January 20.

In the past week, an average of 4,600 positive tests per day were reported to the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). That average is now rising for the third day in a row, but generally remains fairly stable at around 4,500 a day.

Amsterdam had 230 confirmed infections last 24 hours. In Rotterdam 170 residents were told that they had contracted the virus, in The Hague there were 120 positive tests, in Utrecht 110 and in Tilburg 88. On Schiermonnikoog, the smallest municipality in the country, two residents again tested positive. In the last three weeks, 28 infections have come to light on the Wadden Island, compared to eleven in the previous year.

Number of deaths continues to decline

The number of deaths continues to decline. Last 24 hours the death of 31 corona patients was registered. For a Wednesday, that is the lowest number since September 30. In the last seven days, 252 deaths have been recorded, and that weekly rate has not been so low since October 22.

Since the outbreak began, 1.1 million people have tested positive. It is certain that 15,955 people have died from the corona virus. That number will likely exceed 16,000 on Thursday or Friday. The actual number of infections and deaths is higher.
