JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The National Police has sent warning letters to 79 accounts social media who upload content containing elements of ethnicity, race, religion and intergroup (SARA).
The warning was sent by virtual police or virtual police in charge of monitoring activity on social media.
“Now 79 accounts have been posted (warning via) direct message, “said Police Headquarters Public Information Bureau Chief, Brigadier General (Pol) Rusdi Hartono when contacted, Wednesday (10/3/2021).
He said that the majority of accounts that were reprimanded immediately responded by changing their uploads.
It insists, presence virtual police to educate the public.

“The response is good. In fact, if we know it, that’s already a crime. But, here is police policy. When people see that people have been involved in criminal acts, they are reminded,” he said.
Rusdi explained that the posts that were mostly reprimanded were those who had personal sentiments regarding certain issues.
“Of course this is what needs to be observed. Sometimes personal problems are brought up to social media,” he said.
As previously explained by the National Police, virtual police monitor activity on social media and will report to superiors if you find uploaded content that has the potential to violate the Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) Law.
Subsequently, content uploads submitted by officers will be solicited from experts, such as criminal experts, linguists, and ITE experts.
If there is a potential for a criminal act, the uploaded content will be submitted to the Director of Cyber Crimes or a designated official.
Once officials agree, virtual police will send a warning to the account owner.
