There will be a number of endings to the game, you may also get a modification option on Xbox

STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl was made for a long time, known for a while as Oblivion Lost, and unfortunately, when it came out, it lacked a lot of content, as promised by GSC Gameworld. This, of course, made it another great game that was worth playing through several times because of the nice number of completions and the sea of mods that enthusiastic players made for it, among other things. Well, according to the latest info, Part 2 will also have plenty to complete, and you can get mod support on Xbox as well.

One in Russian podcastben, which a Gamingsym translated for us, Zakhar Bocharov, GSC PR Director, talked a little about STALKER 2. Little, because he is also bound by a confidentiality agreement between the development studio and Microsoft. One of the most ambitious promises is that there will be plenty of branching to the story with multiple endings, and the plot will also be structured in a non-linear way, although in the first part we practically decided to Pripyat which areas to visit first.

It was also said during the conversation that the A-Life system, which has been significantly implemented in STALKER (i.e., that NPCs and mutants live a life independent of us) will be much more advanced and detailed. That is, factions and monsters in the Zone regularly clash, and we can even miss key events if we are not there in the right place at the right time. Of course, Zakhar Bocharov could not elaborate on what A-Life 2.0 would know, but he predicted that it would work very sophistically at the level of wild boars, for example.

Bocharov also hovered that STALKER 2 will also be a huge improvement in mods support compared to the first part, and the priority is to have a mature modsupport from the day of its release. It is also a goal to make modifications available on Xbox platforms as well.

It is an eternal promise from all developers that the continuation of the game will be much more stable than its predecessor. Of course, we believe this when we see it, especially after a Cyberpunk 2077 fiasco! In any case, we hope that STALKER 2 will be technically better, because there were more serious problems with its predecessor (crashes, destruction of backups) in 2007.

The official sequel to STALKER is scheduled to be released in 2021 for PC and Xbox Series X / S. But let us stress again: we would rather postpone it until the second half of 2022, let’s just get a good game in a technical sense, don’t repeat the case of Cyberpunk 2077!
