Two partnerships to encourage girls’ interest in science and technology

Square Enix Montreal announces its financial support to Scientifines and Technovation Montreal, two Quebec organizations working to strengthen the interest of girls aged 8 to 18 in science and technology.

This initiative by the Square Enix Montreal gaming studio was launched in collaboration with the Montreal Movement Girls & and the Code of Concertation Montréal. The objective is to help promote STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) among young girls, while encouraging school perseverance and strengthening self-esteem.

Square Enix Montreal’s support will help make the programs accessible to more participants.

  • The Scientifines offers young girls aged 8 to 17 from disadvantaged neighborhoods programs that include homework help, various scientific activities and support for the development of science fair projects.
  • Technovation Montreal is an international competition for the creation of mobile applications which aims to develop technological and entrepreneurial skills in girls aged 10 to 18.

“Thanks to this new partnership, we will be able to accompany an additional group, 10 girls, two evenings a week after school, by offering them a period of academic support and fun and enriching science activities. Encouraging girls to take an interest in STEM, inspiring them to choose to study science and pursue careers in these fields, has been at the heart of our mission for more than 30 years … and Square Enix Montreal will allow us to continue to reach even more girls, ”says Valérie Bilodeau, Executive Director, Les Scientifines.
